Technology Accessibility Coordinator
Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Technology Accessibility Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our digital platforms and products meet accessibility standards, providing an inclusive and accessible experience for all users, including those with disabilities. Your expertise will help guide our technology teams in making strategic and sustainable improvements to enhance the accessibility of our web applications, software, and digital content.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accessibility of all digital platforms, including websites, mobile applications, and internal tools, ensuring compliance with accessibility guidelines and legal requirements.
- Work closely with design, development, and content teams to integrate accessibility best practices from the initial stages of product design through to deployment.
- Perform regular accessibility audits, including testing using assistive technologies, tools, and manual checks, to identify and address issues.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce accessibility standards and guidelines, ensuring that digital experiences are usable by individuals with various disabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement accessibility improvements in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provide training and guidance to internal teams on accessibility standards, tools, and techniques.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on accessibility issues, staying current with the latest trends, tools, and legal requirements related to digital accessibility.
- Assist with responding to accessibility-related feedback from users, ensuring all concerns are addressed promptly and appropriately.
- Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement in accessibility practices across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Design, or related disciplines).
- 4+ years of experience in digital accessibility, web development, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of accessibility standards such as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements.
- Experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, WAVE, JAWS, NVDA, etc.) and assistive technologies.
- Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web development frameworks as they relate to accessibility.
- Proven ability to advocate for accessibility within cross-functional teams and ensure organizational adherence to accessibility standards.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively educate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with accessibility regulations and industry standards.
